Thank You

January 20, 2009 at 4:28 pm (Randomness) (, )

In my small way I want to extend my thanks to former Mr. President George Bush.  He has served this great country through very though times.  He has done what was necessary to protect the people of America.  I am glad to see Mr. Bush have the weight of this position lifted off his shoulders.  May he enjoy living in Texas!

My prayers are with Mr. Bush and President Obama as He is charged with leading this great country.

Do We Really Need This?

January 19, 2009 at 11:00 am (Randomness) ()

I start this by saying I am not an over political person. With that said, I think we can all agree on a bi-partisan basis that the extravagance of this years Presidential Inauguration is just ridiculous.

I vote conservative about 99% of the time, but in this economic [recession] time is it right for our government to be spending upwards of $170,000,000 [million] on this event? I would be writing with the same disgust if this was a conservative or green party inauguration.

It seems to be much like the pro sports salaries that seem to be sending a message to all Americans that money is not an issue, when plenty of Americans can’t pay their mortgage.

All I ask is this: Is this sending the right message? Did we not just have an economic bailout? Oh yeah, the American People are paying for it with our tax dollars.

Thanks for being responsible a government!

My Intro To Victor Valley HS

October 6, 2008 at 3:06 pm (Randomness)

Well, today I set off to Victorville, CA enroute to Victor Valley High School to meet with some students.  Everything went as planned during travel and arrival.  I was at Victor Valley during the lunch period and met a few students.

As I was finishing up some computer work I could sense the tension in the hallway outside the career center building.  That could have been from the yelling and people running past the door to stimulate these spider senses.  [wow that did not come out as cool as it sounded in my brain]

Within 30 seconds the running and yelling dies down and then it happened.  It was like the calm before the storm.  People by the 10’s are sprinting by the career center.  The yelling was almost deafening and the tension was out of control.

I soon see neon green shirts come sprinting in with the students.  These were the campus security.  As this all develops the security are yelling at students to stop as they try to break up the fight.  I don’t see much of this, but I did see a security officer grab a student by the backpack as he was running into the fight and pull him down to the ground.

This melee lasted for a solid 2 minutes.  Then the door to the career center was closed to prevent the residue from the pepper spray entering the room!  Yes I did say pepper spray.  So this was my eventful afternoon up in lovely Victorville, CA.

Oddly Enough: HOT DOG!!

September 25, 2008 at 11:53 am (Comedy, Randomness) (, )

PHILADELPHIA (AP) –

Hours before the Phillies-Atlanta Braves’ game on Wednesday night, a film crew shot a commercial of the mascot shooting heavily wrapped hot dogs from a launcher.

But someone inadvertently left three of the duct taped hot dogs outside the ballpark, sparking security fears. Stadium employees were evacuated and the bomb squad was called in.

Is It More Than Just Chikin?

September 19, 2008 at 9:47 am (Randomness) (, )

Yesterday evening on my drive home from work, I decided I would go try Chick-Fil-A.  I knew the lines would be long, but I was prepared to wait it out.  The drive through was ridiculously long so I went inside, which ended up only being about 20 min.  Here is my review of that experience.

When I walked up I was greeted by a large friendly owner.  He had a big smile and had a bit of that southern charm.  I got the recommendation to try #1, which is the basic chicken sandwich that “started it all”.  I will now break down the individual pieces of the meal.

Main Course:  Chicken Sandwich

I choose to upgrade to the “Deluxe” which included: Lettuce and Tomatoes.  I choose NO tomatoes.  In preparation I spread the Chick-Fil-A Honey Roasted BBQ sauce on the bun for added flavor.

My first bite was delicious.  The chicken breast was still hot and juicy.  Flavor was good.  Not too much spice, but just enough so you know it was there.  I would definitely choose this chicken sandwich over any other from McDonald’s, Carl’s Jr or even KFC.  The only competitor in the fast food chains would be the Wendy’s spicy chicken.

Next Item was the waffle fries.

I was pleasantly surprised.  They were cooked perfectly [crispy but not over fried].  Flavor was good.  I just used a little bbq and ketchup for compliments.  Oh, one of my big things in fries is over saltiness.  I’m not sure if these had salt and they were solid the way they were.

Finally, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade.

I was sceptical when I heard “fresh squeezed” coming from a fast food joint.  But once again, my scepticism was called out when I took the first sip; I got a seed!  Maybe they just put seeds in there for effect, but along with the taste it made me a believer.

So overall, I will give my first experience at Chick-Fil-A Fresno a solid B+.   Now you might say, ‘Why not an A?’.  Well if this place is as good as advertised it will get better each time I eat there so I am just giving it room for improvement.

Oh and I read an article in the Fresno Bee about the opening of Chick-Fil-A.  They are a Christian company and it is clearly stated in the Corporate Purpose Statement:

“To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us.  To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-Fil-A”.
