Good Times
Last night I spent some good time in the Word and here are a few thoughts I got from 1 Timothy 4.
v.8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things; holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
v.12 Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
v.15-16 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
I was encouraged that I need to view my life as an example of God’s wonderful creation. When I am not in “need” of God that is when I am to remember His promises and seek after Him even more. Verse 15 really challenged me to live a life that people can see God through me. This is in no way being arrogant, but rather living confident in God’s promises.
Teddy Ballgame
This is an excerpt from Ted Williams Hall of Fame induction speech. Williams is arguably the greatest hitter to ever play the game of baseball. In his speech he talks about how he approached the game and I really think this shows how sports can mold a person in a good way growing up.
“Ballplayers are not born great. They’re not born great hitters or pitchers or managers, and luck isn’t a big factor. No one has come up with a substitute for hard work. I’ve never met a great player who didn’t have to work harder at learning to play ball than anything else he ever did. To me it was the greatest fun I ever had, which probably explains why today I feel both humility and pride, because God let me play the game and learn to be good at it.”
If you know me at all you know that I love baseball. From my experiences of coaching I have grown to love the game in more ways than just what happens on the field. There is a great opportunity to work with young men at an age where they are finding themselves. It is a great responsibility not only to teach the fundamentals of the game, but [probably] more importantly to teach the game of life.
I truly hope I can get back into coaching sooner than later for that reason alone. I love the game, but I love the people that play the game even more.
What I Found Out
Last night I posted a blog about Miss California’s appearance on “Hannity”. Little did I know that one post would drive quite a bit of outside traffic. In one day I had all these searches land on my blog. I understand for some of you uber bloggers this is minuscule, but to me it was kinda exciting!

Well Done Miss California
I was watching Hannity this evening and he had Miss California on to speak about the Miss America question she received from Perez Hilton. I applaud her that she was strong enough to NOT give the “PC” answer about the gay marriage topic. On Hannity she spoke about how she was not willing to give up her faith, morals and values to win Miss America [most people say her answer in opposition to gay marriage cost her the pageant]. Her answer is below.
Once again I just say Well Done!

Brokaw
I am not sure if you heard/saw this today. This is in no way pointing a finger at President Obama, but rather pointing the finger at the liberal media. Tom Brokaw likened this inauguration celebration in DC to the fall of the communist regime in the “Velvet Revolution”.
I know CNN will not carry this story, but come on; how can you be so irresponsible as a national news figure? Click the link below for the audio.
The Duel
In celebration of The Office returning last night, I offer you this fun friday distraction.
Play The Duel game between Dwight and Andy.
Why Acura?
I have been a “car” guy all my life. I love researching what new models are coming out and the modifications that will accompany them. I also am drawn to the styling cues that elicit feelings of awe and comments like, “wow, that car is just downright sexy!”
With that said, I ask the Acura what in the world were they thinking when they revised the Acura TL. 2009 brought the new model and when I first saw pictures I wanted to vomit. Now, I must admit that pictures can be deceiving so I thought I would hold my judgement till I saw it in person.
To say the least, I was still disgusted. Look at the 2005-2008 model years.

In my humble opinion, the 2009 TL did an injustice to all that was beautiful about the TL model.
Tuesday Recap
In a continuing effort to be more consistent at this blogging thing here’s a post.
Here are a few things about my Tuesday:
–Well, the work day was not very exciting, unless you call a 3 hour meeting at the end of the day exciting. So we will skip that part of my day.
–As the lead engineer for The Well SE campus I have been trying to meet with volunteers that I serve with. This is something I appreciate about The Well; their focus on taking care of the volunteers.
I had coffee with Art, one of the Video Techs, to find out what he is feeling now almost 4 months into SE. It was great conversation about life and church stuff.
–I went to Home Depot to get a few things for my house. The stuff I bought wasn’t very manly, [combo lock for the gym, flexible spout for my rain gutters and box of 1 1/4" dry wall screws] but I feel more manly in that store as I stated on Twitter.
–I resisted to buy fast food on the way home, because I need to eat better in general. I am also starting to train for the Millerton Triathlon so all I can do to help that effort is necessary.
–Instead, I made grilled hamburger patties and rice. Oh and in the middle of grilling my patties I had a door to door cleaner salesman come to my door. He was a nice guy, normal guilt trip strategy sales guy. I didn’t buy anything, but gave him a burger for the road.
–Sat down to watch American Idol. My DVR somehow deleted my schedule to record AI and Scrubs so I only got to watch the last hour of AI and no Scrubs (thank you online streaming!). Of what I saw, Stevie stood out; so did the chick in the bikini, but the only way she made it through was for tv ratings.
That about rounds out my Tuesday. This is unrelated to Tuesday, but my Mom was on Great Day Monday morning as part of Mayor Monday. [On the right side of the video, scroll down to Mayor Monday: Reedley Mayor Mary Fast] And yes she is the Mayor of Reedley.
